In September, we celebrate “God’s Work, Our hands” by doing a special church project. It is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America — one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor. We have chosen to prepare Personal Care Kits for individuals and families who have been displaced from their homes, or those who must flee for their safety.
Kits are to include the following items:
(1) lightweight cotton or cotton blend bath-size towel (20 x 40” to 27 x 52”)
(2) or (3) bath-size bars of soap in their original wrapping
(1) adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging
(1) sturdy comb (no picks or fine-toothed combs); remove packaging
(1) metal nail clippers; remove packaging.
These five simple items helps make a person feel more human in the face of fear and uncertainty.
The kits will be assembled on September 29th after church service. All items should be new and in good condition. Packing instructions will be available on the date of assembly. We would love for you to join us if you are able to!
