Meet Pastor Sarah Johnson
MEET PASTOR SARAH
Pastor Sarah (she/they) was born and raised by a National Park Service family, which meant she had a fantastic opportunity of living in some of the most beautiful places in the country. This upbringing has encouraged her love of nature and to value the beauty in God's creation.
She received her Master of Divinity from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN as part of a distributive learning program and graduated in May 2014. She is currently working on her D.Min in Transformational Ministries at Lexington Theological Seminary.
Pastor Sarah’s first call as a pastor was to Baudette Lutheran Parish in Baudette, MN after being ordained at Hope Lutheran Church in St. Charles, MO on June 8, 2014. Lord of Mercy is her second call and she began serving here in August 2017. Additionally, she has been a Chaplain at the WCSO Detention Center since the fall of 2020, where God has called her to serve the unseen.
Pastor Sarah is married to her husband Joe and they have 4 adult children, 2 daughters-in-law, and 2 wonderful dogs: Katy, a 12 year old terrier mix and Denali, a 2 year old German Shepherd Dog.
In her free time, Pastor Sarah loves hiking, knitting, and reading. Depending on where she is walking, you might even find her knitting socks while she walks! Her long walks are often times she uses to pray for the needs of the community as she walks through them.
